Should old acquaintance be forgot?

Never! And let them know it with some wickedly cool stationery. This new year will be filled with new designs, ideas, and products (maybe even a contest or two). Is there something you want to see me carry/design? Do you have an idea for a product but need help bringing it to life? Leave a comment and tell me what you'll like to see!  You can also email me at chickadeepapery@gmail.com and I can help you with your very own papery style (it's just as fashionable as the clothes you wear).

Personalized Favor Bags!

Hot off the presses (literally)!!  Check out these very cool muslin favor bags.  Not only can you send party guests home with thoughtful favors in a personalized bag, but you can also reuse them for your little knick knacks, purse to keep your childs things together, toys for traveling, or anything else you can think of!  I am so excited to roll this out because it's really cute, very easy, and it's green (yay, planet!).  More designs will be available soon and we can talk about customizing for your party.  Happy gifting!

Happy Birthday to YOU!

Check out my newest offerings.  I love designing invitations and announcements for birthdays because they are so incredibly special, especially when it's the first one in someone's life!  Aside from his gorgeous eyes, check out the invitation below that I created for Colin's first birthday. And one of my personal favorites is the princess one!

I'm happy to work with you on a design that will capture your little one's personality, not to mention the hearts of all those receiving the invitation.  For the young (and young at heart), these invitations will help you set the stage for your shindig; will it be a big bash?  A low-key gathering?  I'd be honored to have such a role in helping you celebrate your baby's first birthday!

Where am I?

If you live in the Northeast, this past week was a doozy. As I watched (no matter how hard I tried to change the channel) all of the Hurricane Irene coverage predicted to destroy everything in her path, I recall thinking that if things happen in threes, what’s next? Earlier in the week, many of my friends felt the earthquake that rumbled through here. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I didn't get to experience the shake up. Yes, an earthquake and a hurricane in the same week in New Jersey! What would the third force be?

Well, as I was glued to the TV, my screen goes black and now they’re predicting a tornado. I’m thrilled to say that I, my family and friends came through this week relatively unscathed. Power outages are still an issue for many, but in all, folks are safe.

Feeling very fortunate, I hope you and yours are all safe and well. Aside from cleaning up downed limbs and taking long routes to travel due to flooding, all is well here. I wonder what I’m going to do with all of this Spam and water!

Luxury or Necessity?

I don’t know if it’s the economic downturn or just my reassessment of important things since starting this new venture.  In thinking of all of the responsibilities I hold for my family, work, friends, even Chickadee, I try to remain practical and think if what I’m buying or doing is a luxury or necessity.  For example, if I have a cleaning lady, is that a luxury?  Perhaps. But if having her allows me to spend more time with my husband and daughters (and start my new Papery!!), then it really is a necessity to me.  Ok, take Starbucks.  I have a friend who goes there every day; is this a luxury?  Perhaps. But if that’s her “moment” each day to unwind or prepare for everything else that the day/life brings, then it’s a necessity for her (especially since that’s the only thing she does for herself that’s “luxurious”).

As you’ll see when the blogs continue to roll out, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite sites and finds (of course, I’ll always try to include a coupon); some of these are simple luxuries for busy moms, some are absolute necessity!  I hope you’ll share yours with me if you find anything good so I can post it.  And remember, when you send a cute or thoughtful note on pretty paper, knowing how the person will feel once (s)he receives it…absolutely a necessity!

Awesome labels!

So many of the cool things I've discovered as a mom have been by word of mouth.  Friends share advice, babysitters, school information and often reallygreat finds; one of those for me was Inchbug.  I use their products for my daughters' bottles, cups, and other items I need to pack for either school or a day out.  So, if you haven't seen or tried them yet, you can use this 15% off coupon code: Organize, to shop for back to school items until 8/31!  And if you love sharing awesome sites with friends, I hope you'll add mine to the list.  Happy shopping!

Save the Postal Workers!

As the US weighs closing post offices (14 in the Philadelphia area alone), I’m encouraged to send more mail!  In recent years, the amount of bills coming into the mailbox is fewer thanks to paperless statements/bill pay and I find I’m more and more touched when I receive a nice thank you, invitation, or just personal note.  I’m starting to write more now, both because I love to do it and because I want to keep mail flowing so that folks can keep their jobs.  Obviously, I’m one person but still feel I’m doing my share to help!

When I’ve assisted in creating stationery that’s uniquely mine, I find that I am more inclined to want to share it and my thoughts with close friends.  Whether it’s a thank you note, invitation to a party, or even items that help make everyday occasions special, Chickadee Papery is an exciting venture into expressing a love for paper and all
that it helps us to say.
